Ranking Seoul-Area MICE Venues by Scale

Choosing the right venue in the Seoul area depends mainly on the size of the event. Below is a practical ranking of the main facilities based on exhibition space and overall capacity, from largest to more compact options.

Venue Ranking by Exhibition Scale

Rank Venue Location Approx. Indoor Exhibition Space Best For Notes
1 KINTEX Goyang (near Seoul) \~108,000 m² Large international exhibitions Korea’s largest; expanding further by 2028
2 COEX Gangnam, Seoul \~36,000–48,000 m² Mid-to-large meetings & exhibitions Central location, strong urban integration
3 COEX Magok Magok, western Seoul \~7,450 m² Mid-size meetings & specialized shows Newer complex, close to airports
4 SETEC Daechi, Seoul \~8,000 m² Smaller exhibitions & consumer shows Compact, central Gangnam access
5 aT Center Yangjae, Seoul \~8,000 m² Food, agriculture, and mid-size events Specialized focus

Quick Guidance by Event Size

Large-scale exhibitions (500+ booths or major international shows)
KINTEX is the clear choice. It offers the largest continuous exhibition space in the country and can handle heavy equipment and high visitor volumes. It sits about 30–40 minutes from central Seoul.

Mid-to-large meetings and mixed events
COEX remains the most practical option inside Seoul. Multiple halls, dozens of meeting rooms, and direct subway access make it suitable for most international conferences and mid-sized trade shows.

Smaller or specialized events
COEX Magok works well for mid-size conferences, especially those linked to the western Seoul tech and bio clusters. SETEC and aT Center are better for smaller consumer or industry-specific shows that do not require large floor areas.

Key Considerations

  • Location vs. size: KINTEX wins on pure scale but requires more travel time from central Seoul. COEX trades some space for superior urban convenience.
  • Future capacity: The Jamsil MICE complex (targeted for 2032) is planned to add space roughly 2.5 times the size of current COEX in the southeastern corridor.
  • Group logistics: COEX and Magok are generally easier for international attendees staying in Gangnam or near the airports.

For most international MICE programs that balance size with convenience, COEX is the default starting point. When the event grows beyond what COEX can comfortably host, KINTEX becomes the logical next step.
