Choosing the Right Venue in Seoul for Your MICE Event

Seoul has solidified its position as one of Asia’s leading MICE destinations, consistently ranking high in global and regional rankings for international meetings. In recent UIA statistics the city placed third worldwide and first in Asia for the number of international meetings hosted, while Cvent’s Asia-Pacific rankings placed it in the top tier of meeting destinations. For planners, the strength of the city lies in a concentrated set of high-quality venues that combine scale, technology, and accessibility.

COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Gangnam remains the primary hub. It offers roughly 36,000 square meters of exhibition space across halls that can accommodate up to 520 standard booths each in the larger spaces, plus a column-free multipurpose hall capable of seating up to 7,000 people. The venue includes a 1,080-seat auditorium, a flexible Grand Ballroom (up to about 1,800 guests), dozens of meeting rooms ranging from boardrooms to 900-seat theater-style spaces, and strong hybrid/AV capabilities. Its direct connection to COEX Mall, multiple hotels, and Samseong Station (Line 2) makes logistics straightforward for large groups.

Newer options expand choice. COEX Magok (also referred to in connection with Magok Lewest) in the southwestern Magok district provides additional exhibition and meeting capacity in a developing R&D and medical cluster near Gimpo Airport. Hotel ballrooms remain popular for mid-sized events: Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas offers one of the city’s larger hotel ballrooms (around 1,160 theater-style), while properties such as Lotte Hotel Seoul, Conrad Seoul, and JW Marriott locations supply flexible rooms for 50–500 people with integrated accommodation. Unique venues—hanok-style spaces, galleries, or riverfront locations—suit incentive dinners or smaller executive gatherings.

Planners should book peak seasons (spring and autumn) six to twelve months ahead for groups over 100 rooms or large halls. Seoul Tourism Organization and Seoul MICE Alliance members can assist with site visits, hybrid technical specifications, and incentive packages. Matching venue size and location to program flow—plenary at COEX followed by hotel breakouts or a cultural evening—keeps both cost and delegate experience efficient.
